Safety Barrier Management: Risk-Based Approach for the Oil and Gas Sector

In the Oil and Gas sector, risk assessment management have always been critical due to possibility of significant accidents associated with presence large amounts flammable hydrocarbons. Methods provide accurate reliable analysis for an oil platform usually focus on equipment identify causes consequences loss containment. Safety barriers are important elements such accident scenarios, aiming reduce frequency unwanted events. Estimating performance safety is essential prevention major accidents. This work first focuses application risk-based process area floating Goliat. Such approach secondly extended most relevant systems prevent fires explosions consequent catastrophic domino effects. An additional challenge resides in fact that cannot be classified as equipment, they often composed operational organizational elements. Through ARAMIS Project (Accidental Risk Assessment Methodology Industries Context Seveso II Directive) results, modification methodology based TEC2O (TEChnical Operational Organizational factors) REWI (Resilience-based Early Warning Indicators) method, it possible quantify barrier performance, While conducting this study, importance factor combination technical technological aspects was analyzed. Starting from initial project conditions, applying worsening factors, simulating n systems, barriers, highlighting factors terms accidents, assess dynamic overall plant.
